Dolch Sight Word Bingo Cards

Dolch Sight Words is a list of words that was originally developed by Edward William Dolch, PhD, in 1948, for his book, “Problems in Reading”. Edward Dolch developed various lists of words by studying the frequency with which they occurred in popular children’s books of the time. He then subcategorized these words, and identified a list of 220 service words that could not sound out, and which children need to recognize to achieve reading fluency in English. Additionally, Dolch identified a further list of 95 common nouns.
Lists of sight words, including the Dolch word list, and afterward developed sight word lists, are a key tool for today’s teachers. These word lists can be useful both when teaching young children to read, and when teaching English as a Second Language (“ESL”). This is because they allow teachers to develop and deploy classroom exercises and activities to practice reading and recognizing these common but important words. Some examples of such classroom activities include the use of sight word flash cards, and sight word bingo SBOBET.
Sight word bingo is played almost exactly like normal games of bingo, with each student being given a bingo card and the teacher acting as the bingo caller. However, there is one important difference: the bingo cards are printed with words chosen by the teacher, rather than numbers. The teacher then calls out words (instead of numbers), and the students’ task is to find the matching words on their cards.
As you can imagine, sight word bingo can be a lot of fun, but it is also a useful practical method for recognizing sight words and vocabulary in general – many students learn surprisingly quickly this way. Of course, in order to play the game, the teacher will need a set of bingo cards containing the words chosen for that particular lesson – I would not suggest the teacher’s writing them out by hand – there is a much easier way – a PC with some bingo card creator software can print cards containing whatever the teacher wants very quickly and easily.
